Building Automation Design Engineer – Remote (Siemens) Siemens empowers sustainable progress through advanced technology. As a Building Automation Design Engineer you will design innovative building automation solutions for educational, healthcare, and research facilities.

Role Overview Deliver custom automation systems that enhance occupant comfort and operational efficiency. Provide engineering expertise, design documents, and quality assurance for new and existing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Interpret project requirements and design building automation solutions for K‑12, higher education, hospitals, pharmaceutical, high‑rise, and laboratory facilities.

Prepare design documents including mechanical layouts, electrical drawings, bills of materials, sequences of operations, valve/damper schedules, and DDC panel layouts.

Design building automation network architecture to support operator workstations, DDC field panels, and third‑party integration devices connected through Modbus, Siemens APOGEE, Desigo, or BACnet.

Analyze construction contract specifications, building codes, and project risks to determine design requirements.

Design building and space pressurization solutions, chiller and boiler plant sequencing control, and related plant controls.

Prepare engineering re‑estimates and coordinate with sales and management to ensure scope understanding and customer satisfaction.

Perform engineering document peer review and quality assurance.

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or state‑recognized GED.

3+ years (mid‑level) or 5+ years (senior level) of building automation (HVAC controls) design experience.

Ability to travel up to 10%.

Demonstrated ability to design large and complex jobs with standard tools, products, and practices.

Knowledge of industry engineering fundamentals and business operations.

Proficiency in engineering design software or drafting tools such as AutoCAD or Microsoft Visio.

Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate or Bachelor’s degree.

7+ years of building automation (HVAC controls) design experience.

Competitive pay range: $49,100 – $106,000 per year (actual offer may vary).
