Job Description Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Ensure the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies for each operation; assist the surgeon during the operation as allowed by professional and legal standards; and assist with operating room cleanup after the operation, ensuring proper routing of equipment and used material. Reports to Manager.
Responsibilities
Assist the surgeon during operations, following professional and legal standards.
Prepare and set up surgical equipment and supplies for each case.
Assist with operating room cleanup after procedures, ensuring a sterile field.
Maintain a clean and organized OR environment.
Follow OR sterilization and safety protocols.
Qualifications
Completion of a surgical technologist program.
Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
Maintenance of CPR, BLS validation and attendance of annual Validation Day required.
Knowledge of various surgical procedures and ability to anticipate surgeon needs.
Knowledge of OR equipment, instrumentation, and sterile field maintenance.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
Knowledge of basic patient safety concepts and asepsis principles.
Knowledge of OR emergency situations.
Primary role will be as a CST in one of our seven cardiac or vascular operating rooms. High volume OR, averaging 30 open heart cases per week.
On-Call Obligation
Required for covering week nights and both weekend days and nights after the orientation process.
Flexible scheduling possible after orientation (evening or weekend only schedule for the right candidate).
