Pay Range:
$125,000.00/yr – $150,000.00/yr
About The Green & Healthy Homes Initiative The Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that advances health through healthy housing. GHHI delivers improved health, economic, and social outcomes by supporting housing, environmental health, and energy efficiency services for families nationwide.
Mission Statement GHHI is dedicated to addressing the social determinants of health by creating safe, healthy, and energy efficient homes. By delivering a standard of excellence, GHHI aims to eradicate the negative health impacts of unhealthy housing for low‑income families.
Position Overview GHHI seeks a full‑time Director of Housing Intervention Services to oversee operations of housing weatherization, lead paint remediation, Aging in Place, housing rehabilitation, solar panel installation, and health and safety services. The Director reports to the Vice President of Maryland Programs, supervises an initial staff of 12, and maintains credentials and compliance with contracts and policies.
Responsibilities
Direct and manage the housing intervention workflow in Maryland Programs.
Coordinate completion of housing intervention work with crew chiefs, foremen, and subcontractors.
Participate in the development of new bids and contract proposals to extend unit production and funding.
Supervise Housing Intervention Coordinator(s) and coordinate supplies, scheduling, and ongoing operations of staff.
Work with housing assessment and energy auditors to develop scopes of work for housing interventions.
Oversee and monitor performance of the Housing Intervention Team and troubleshoot production challenges.
Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of federal, state, and local law requirements and GHHI processes.
Participate in weekly project meetings to review program status and contract goals.
Monitor inventory and supplies purchasing in accordance with purchase orders and internal financial controls.
Manage GHHI vehicles, equipment, and other assets of the Housing Intervention Services Division.
Manage project costs on a per‑unit and program basis within allowable budgets.
Establish training and credentialing plans with the quality assurance team.
Work with the Data, Evaluation, and Learning Department to ensure timely completion of required reports.
Maintain a positive working atmosphere for the Housing Intervention Services Team.
Perform additional reasonable activities to support GHHI staff and related programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Five years of experience in lead hazard reduction, weatherization, or home improvement work.
Experience managing day‑to‑day contracting partner negotiations and problem resolution.
Demonstrated knowledge of general carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
Experience directly supervising and managing housing intervention crews.
Experience working with and monitoring subcontractors.
Experience preparing cost estimates for housing intervention projects.
Experience reviewing housing inspection and assessment documents and preparing scopes of work.
Passage of Maryland Lead Paint Maintenance and Repainting Supervisor or Lead Abatement Supervisor training examination with a score of at least 80% (GHHI will cover cost).
Experience participating in development of bid and grant project proposals and work plans.
Experience launching and scaling a program.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Highly organized and self‑motivated.
Excellent communication skills.
Detail‑oriented.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and consistent client follow‑up and relationship management.
Preferred Qualifications
Maryland Lead Paint Maintenance & Repainting Supervisor or Lead Abatement Supervisor credentials.
Maryland Lead Paint Visual Inspector or Lead Risk Assessor credentials.
BPI Building Analyst or Energy Analyst certification.
Bachelor’s degree.
Position Specific Requirements This full‑time exempt position is based in Baltimore, Maryland headquarters. The incumbent must have a valid Maryland driver’s license and auto insurance, travel reimbursement will be provided, and a motor vehicle is required for duty.
