Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering novel therapeutics for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a liver disease with high unmet medical need. Madrigal’s medication, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), is a once‑daily, oral, liver‑directed THR‑β agonist designed to target key underlying causes of MASH and is the first and only medication approved by both the FDA and European Commission for the treatment of MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis (F2 to F3). Rezdiffra is currently being evaluated in a Phase 3 outcomes trial for the treatment of compensated MASH cirrhosis (F4c).

Overview Madrigal Pharmaceuticals is seeking a results‑oriented

Director of Project Management

to oversee the planning, resourcing, and execution of R&D programs and cross‑functional initiatives across the full product lifecycle. Reporting to the Vice President of Project and Portfolio Management, the Director will partner closely with clinical and functional leaders to build and maintain integrated project plans, drive operational excellence, and ensure delivery on time and within scope.

Responsibilities

Lead development and maintenance of detailed integrated project plans for multiple R&D programs, studies, and/or projects, ensuring alignment with overall corporate objectives.

Manage project timelines, deliverables, and budgets, proactively identifying and resolving risks or delays, and escalating when appropriate.

Partner with functional leaders to anticipate resource needs, resolve gaps, and ensure effective allocation of talent and capabilities within project scope.

Coordinate closely with clinical, regulatory, CMC, and other functional leads to ensure their workstreams are aligned.

Provide insights and scenario analyses that inform trade‑offs, prioritization, and investment decisions within project teams.

Serve as the central operational lead for assigned project teams—setting agendas, tracking actions, and ensuring effective communication to yield results.

Promote project management standards, tools, dashboards, and processes that drive efficiency and continuous improvement within project teams.

Contribute operational support and content to project and portfolio reviews, governance bodies, and other forums as required.

Serve as a trusted thought partner to project teams, providing hands‑on coaching, structure, and accountability within the project management discipline.

Partner with the VP, PPM on cross‑department initiatives, contributing project management and operational support as needed.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills

Demonstrated success in managing complex, cross‑functional drug development program teams.

Understanding of the drug development process from discovery through commercialization.

Proficiency with project management software (e.g., SmartSheet, MS Project, etc.).

Strong ability to synthesize, distill, and succinctly communicate strategy, plan, and status for multiple complex, cross‑functional programs to all audiences.

Experience in operating model, governance, and process design and implementation within R&D environments.

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with a track record of leading and influencing cross‑functional teams.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Self‑motivated and able to multi‑task within a fast‑paced environment.

Comfortable with and skilled at navigating ambiguity.

Ability to lead and influence without authority.

Experience working in both small biotech and larger pharmaceutical company environments preferred.

Experience in metabolic or rare disease therapeutic areas preferred.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or relevant business discipline required. An advanced degree (e.g., MA, MBA, PhD, MD) is a plus.

Three days per week in‑office requirement in Conshohocken, PA.

Experience

12+ years of relevant experience, including at least 10 years of project management experience.

Compensation Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate’s qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. In addition, the role may be eligible for a bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
