Overview Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital is dedicated to providing behavioral health and psychiatric support to children and teens ages 3 to 17. Job Summary Responsible for quality psychoeducational and psychotherapeutic treatment of pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients. This is accomplished through preparation and facilitation of regular group therapy sessions designed to meet patients’ needs. The Group Facilitator guides and directs patient participation during group sessions, effectively addresses group dynamics, and observes patients’ individual responses. Responsible for documenting group notes including content, individual observations, and progress toward treatment goals. Maintains open communication with the Director of Psychological Services, milieu management, and treatment teams to support quality service delivery and ensure adherence to the daily programming schedule. Follows all policies and procedures related to release of information and confidentiality. Regularly attends clinical supervision.

Responsibilities

Prepare and facilitate group therapy sessions for pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients.

Guide and direct patient participation during group sessions and effectively address group dynamics.

Observe patients’ individual responses to discussion and content.

Document group notes including content, individual observations, and individual progress toward treatment goals.

Maintain open communication with the Director of Psychological Services, milieu management, and treatment teams.

Follow all policies and procedures related to release of information and confidentiality.

Regularly attend clinical supervision.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field and/or certification or licensure in a clinically related field.

Prior experience providing group facilitation. Preferred experience working with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.

State license preferred.

Knowledge of group process, dynamics, and group safety precautions; process and psychoeducation group facilitation; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy theory and intervention; effective communication and collaboration with hospital staff; good organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
