The Role
The Regional Sales Director (RSD) is responsible for driving sales and market growth within their assigned region, ensuring alignment with Biodesix’s strategic goals. This leader will guide a high‑performing sales team, fostering relationships with key healthcare partners including interventional pulmonologists, pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, general practitioners, and other clinical stakeholders. The RSD will recruit, train, and develop field‑based sales professionals, providing hands‑on coaching and direction to achieve and exceed regional objectives. They will also cultivate partnerships with physicians, nurses, and hospital administrators to strengthen Biodesix’s presence and reputation in the market. This role includes accountability for regional forecasting, budget management, and execution of sales strategies that deliver measurable impact. The Regional Sales Director represents Biodesix with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to improving patient outcomes through innovative diagnostic solutions. What You’ll Do
Lead and develop a high‑performing team : Recruit, hire, train, coach, and retain exceptional sales talent. Inspire accountability and achievement of regional sales and market objectives. Foster influential partnerships : Build and maintain trusted relationships with interventional pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, general practitioners, nurses, and hospital administrators to drive product adoption and brand loyalty. Anticipate and plan for coverage needs : Proactively identify upcoming open territories and partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure minimal downtime and consistent market presence. Drive regional sales performance : Plan, execute, and monitor sales strategies to meet or exceed quotas and business goals established by senior leadership. Ensure clinical excellence : Oversee education and training for both internal teams and external customers on proper product use, interpretation of results, and site‑specific onboarding processes. Deliver market insights : Provide timely, actionable feedback to marketing and senior leadership on pricing, reimbursement, competitive activity, customer feedback, and emerging opportunities. Represent Biodesix in the field : Support regional and national meetings, conferences, and events with professionalism and enthusiasm to strengthen the company’s market presence. Coach through consistent engagement : Conduct regular field visits with Sales Consultants to assess performance, provide direct coaching, and reinforce accountability through follow‑up letters, performance rankings, contests, and regional meetings. What You’ll Bring
A minimum of a Bachelor of Arts/Science from an accredited university. Sales management (including people leadership), and a minimum 5 years of documented sales success required. Ability to travel Up to 70% Proven experience leading commercialization efforts and driving adoption of innovative technologies in healthcare. Background in pulmonology or related diagnostic sales is preferred. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence across multiple stakeholder levels. A customer‑first mindset and genuine passion for improving patient outcomes, supported by strong relationship‑building and closing abilities. High energy, integrity, and resilience, with a results‑driven work ethic and commitment to excellence. Strategic thinker with sound business judgment, adaptability, and a collaborative leadership style that motivates and empowers others. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
