The Lockheed Martin Space Mission Processing team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated RF Engineer Staff to join our development team. As member of the RF team, you will design, develop, test, and deploy a major hardware system including antennas, software defined radios, and related RF connections as part of a first‑of‑its‑kind antenna system. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative, forward‑leaning programs while working alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry.

Responsibilities

Designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging software for software‑defined radio (SDR) systems and interfaces

Developing in multi‑process/multi‑threaded programming environment

Designing and developing waveform modulation chains in C++, requiring a good understanding of DSP principles and applications

Performing hands‑on testing and troubleshooting of SDR and RF systems using a range of equipment including spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes to measure and analyze RF data

Assisting in developing and implementing test procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with requirements and industry standards

Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to integrate SDRs with other components

Troubleshooting and debugging SDR and RF system issues, using a range of tools and techniques

Applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. This will include working within an Agile workflow and supporting major program milestone events (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR) from initial design through final delivery of a product.

Selected candidate must have an active TS/SCI security clearance for consideration.

This is a MID‑SENIOR (level 4) ROLE where candidates typically require 5 years of professional experience and a BS degree.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of related experience working on software development projects

Ability to interact with peer‑developers to facilitate interoperability with other subsystems

Advanced knowledge of Software Defined Radio development techniques and practices, including interface with RF‑sensitive components

Advanced experience with RF test and measurement equipment, including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, Vector Network Analyzers, oscilloscopes, RF power meters, etc.

Experience with Microsoft software products including Visio

Active TS/SCI Clearance required for consideration.

Desired Skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or higher) in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical discipline. Equivalent industry‑related experience is acceptable.

Experience with using Software Defined Radio (SDRs)

Software Architecture experience

Designed and developed waveform modulation chains in C++

Good understanding of DSP principles and applications

Familiar with UHD and GNUradio

Expert in network programming (TCP/IP)

Expert in multi‑process/multi‑threaded programming

Experience with spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes
