Summary Obtains, collects, labels and transports various laboratory specimens to appropriate laboratory sections, under supervision. Performs a limited number of basic laboratory procedures. Operates the laboratory information system. Performs EKG’s.
Formal Education Required
High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience & Training Required
Six months phlebotomy experience.
Completion of Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant Program (MA) or equivalent, with certificate, preferred.
Other Skills, Competencies And Qualifications
Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate phlebotomy equipment, other specimen equipment and laboratory computer equipment.
Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self‑respect and dignity.
Level Of Physical Demands
Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
