Lane Veterinary – Veterinary Technician/Nurse Introduction: We are a new, AAHA and Fear Free accredited veterinary hospital in the Hinsdale and Elmhurst neighborhoods. We are looking for compassionate, hard-working veterinary nurses to join our team. You’ll deliver full-service, Fear Free patient care while building and nurturing lifelong relationships with people and their companion animals. Base pay range: $25.00/hr - $29.00/hr Location and schedule
Location: Arlington Heights, IL (in person) Hospital hours: Monday - Friday 7:30a-5:00p. Schedule: day shift, no nights or weekends Employment type: Full-time or Part-time (as available) Primary duties and responsibilities
Administer anesthesia to animals under the direction of a veterinarian, and monitor responses to anesthetics to adjust dosages. Care for and monitor animals recovering from surgery. Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, serums, or treatments as prescribed by veterinarians. Perform laboratory tests (e.g., blood, urine, feces) to aid diagnosis and treatment. Provide emergency first aid and resuscitation as needed. Collect, prepare, and label samples for laboratory testing, culture, or microscopic examination. Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, or materials; assist veterinarians with instruments and supplies. Fill prescriptions, measure medications, and label containers. Prepare animals for surgery and assist with examinations by taking vital signs. Monitor animals’ clinical symptoms and communicate with clients about care plans. Education and experience
Associate's Degree (or other 2-year degree) or equivalent High School Diploma or GED (minimum requirement in some cases) Post-secondary certificate relevant to veterinary care (preferred) Certifications and requirements
Fear Free certification is required (or to be completed during onboarding) Veterinary experience: 1 year (Preferred) Certified Veterinary Technician (Preferred) Minimum age: 18 years old Reliable commute or willingness to relocate before starting Skills and competencies
Customer and Personal Service; English language; Mathematics Knowledge of veterinary medicine basics, record keeping, and laboratory procedures Active listening, critical thinking, and clear written and verbal communication Team collaboration, problem solving, and ability to work in a fast-paced, low-stress environment Physical demands and work context
