At CMC, reliable electrical power is the backbone of our steelmaking process. We depend on a robust high-voltage distribution network, large power transformers, and well-maintained critical spares to keep operations safe, efficient, and productive. We are seeking a skilled Electrical Power Systems Manager to lead our site’s transformer yard, medium-voltage distribution, and electrical reliability program.
What You’ll Do
Lead the reliability, maintenance, and operation of all site transformers and power distribution systems, from the transformer yard through plant distribution
Manage, develop, and provide technical guidance to a team of Medium Voltage Technicians
Own the transformer reliability program, including inspections, oil testing, predictive diagnostics, and refurbishment/repair planning
Maintain inventory and readiness of critical electrical spares
Troubleshoot and resolve high-voltage system issues, including transformer protection, relays, and breaker coordination
Oversee preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for high-voltage and medium-voltage equipment
Collaborate with Engineering and Operations on equipment upgrades and capital projects with a focus on maintainability and reliability
Ensure all electrical work complies with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and CMC safety standards
Manage budgets, contractors, and projects related to transformer upgrades, replacements, and expansions
Support long-term capital planning for site power infrastructure
Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor
What You’ll Need
5+ years of experience with high-voltage / medium-voltage power systems in an industrial or utility environment
Knowledge of transformer maintenance, protection systems, and power distribution reliability
Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies (oil analysis, IR, DGA, partial discharge, etc.)
Strong understanding of safety practices related to MV/HV equipment and Arc Flash standards
Team building and supervisory skills leading project teams and comfortable with supervising technical and non-technical personnel
Your Education
4-Year ABET Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline required
