Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Description

Responsible for the maintenance, inspection, diagnosis, and repair of heavy equipment machinery and components, primarily in a shop setting.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and effectively diagnose and perform service repairs, ensuring the proper completion of each to the customer's satisfaction.

  • Order and obtain all required parts, materials, and supplies necessary to complete the repair.

  • Identify and procure additional items as needed after initial inspection and diagnosis.

  • Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations and guidelines during repair and ensure the work area is properly cleaned upon completion.

  • Keep the service manager informed of completed repairs and communicate any problems or issues found that extend beyond the scope of the original service request.

  • Maintain an adequate level of tools necessary to perform the service requirements.

  • Document and maintain proper records of time spent on each repair, parts and materials used, and detailed descriptions of work performed.

  • Ensure that all parts and materials not used are returned upon completion of the service work as per established guidelines.

  • Provide labor hours daily to the Service Manager or Service Administrator to ensure timely posting of hours to the appropriate work orders.

  • Prepare and submit expense reports accompanied with the appropriate receipts timely.

  • Maintain the shop facilities and yard, along with all equipment and tooling, in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion, and in compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.

  • Maintain personal appearance in a neat and professional manner and ensure professional communications with customers and coworkers.

  • Notify the Service Manager of any tooling, shop, yard, or vehicle requirements or deficiencies.

  • Continue with service training education to enhance knowledge and service capabilities, and remain current on new technologies.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of experience with heavy equipment maintenance.

  • Good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions.

  • Basic understanding of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical service information, manuals, bulletins, blueprints, and schematics.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Physically capable of performing service repairs on heavy equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of prior heavy equipment maintenance experience.

  • Prior experience with agricultural equipment.

  • Technical school training.

Work Environment

Work is performed approximately 80% inside a shop and 20% outdoors when performing maintenance on construction, forestry, and other heavy equipment. Workers are exposed to weather conditions, vibration, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust, fumes, and sharp objects. The shift is Monday to Friday, from 7am to 3:30pm.

This is a Permanent position based out of Sumner, Washington.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $81120.00/yr.
