Role description The ITS/Traffic Engineer will lead the delivery of transportation programs and projects across the Southeast. You will work closely with senior program managers, project managers and engineers to improve safety and operations for ITS, Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) and traffic engineering projects.

Role accountabilities

Coordinate scope, schedule and budget for transportation projects that include ITS, TSMO and traffic engineering.

Develop technical results and recommendations for clients.

Coordinate with subject matter experts (survey, roadway design, environmental) to deliver client projects.

Assist in developing technical approaches and reviewing alternatives.

Prepare traffic engineering plans for signal designs, signing and marking, intersection conceptual designs, and ITS designs.

Provide training and guidance to increase knowledge in technical proficiency.

Key skills

Experience with traffic analysis tools such as VISSIM, SIDRA, Synchro/SimTraffic, and HCS.

Knowledge of traffic operations principles (ITE, MUTCD, AASHTO, state DOT requirements, policies, manuals, procedures).

Experience or familiarity with Microstation and/or Bentley OpenRoads.

Operational or maintenance practices within ITS, TSMO, or Traffic.

Qualifications & experience Required qualifications

4+ years of relevant work experience.

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering.

Ability to obtain Florida PE within two (2) months of hire.

U.S. Driver’s License required.

Experience in operational and/or safety analysis.

Experience with Traffic Analysis and Engineering principles and one or more of the following: FDOT design standards, ITS design, traffic operations studies, intersection conceptual drafting, safety studies, ITS and/or TSMO program operations.

Preferred qualifications

Experience managing large tasks and/or projects.

Experience with FDOT clients and projects.

We offer nine paid holidays, 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $68,187‑$112,509. Actual salaries will vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
