Job Summary The

Storage Systems Administrator II

focuses on managing storage and backup infrastructure in a large enterprise. The role requires expertise in IBM storage platforms, global mirroring, fiber‑channel switch knowledge, and related management software. Responsibilities include ensuring performance, capacity, availability, currency, and scalability of the storage and backup environment, automating monitoring, and troubleshooting complex issues.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Six (6) years of related IT experience.

Alternative Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: Ten (10) years of related IT experience.

Required Certifications

IBM Certified Specialist – Midrange Storage Technical Support v2/v3

IBM Certified Specialist – Enterprise Storage Technical Support v2/v3

Preferred Certifications

Certified Specialist – Storewize V7000 Technical Solutions

IBM Certified Specialist – Storewize V7000 Implementation

Experience Requirements

Three (3) years of AIX operating system experience.

Five (5) years with IBM storage and TSM server hardware – DS8, DS5, V7000; virtual and physical server technologies, especially Power 7.

AD/Windows server administration experience.

Key Responsibilities Manage performance, capacity, availability, currency, and scalability of the storage and backup infrastructure. Automate alerting and enable proactive monitoring of the environment. Provide Level 3 troubleshooting for complex problems and implement changes.

Work Schedule and Reporting Flexible schedule, on‑call, eligible for telecommute. Reports to the Director. No supervisory responsibilities.
