Base pay range: $103,015.28/yr – $175,774.31/yr

In this role, you will be responsible for producing and modifying design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects. You will consult with the project manager to research, develop, calculate, design, and deliver. You will apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leveraging technical knowledge and experience, you will address design‑related issues or concerns, work closely with the project manager through creative problem solving, interact with clients, and complete tasks to meet the project schedule. You will develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support project completion using current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software. You may mentor, train, and review the work of junior engineer staff and provide constructive feedback. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients.
What You’ll Do
Plan and distribute discipline‑specific work, ensuring adherence to schedule and budget.
Assist in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
Develop scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline.
Oversee completeness and accuracy of the project team’s work within the technical discipline and guide and mentor the team to overall project objectives.
Coordinate technical aspects of the project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within discipline.
Work closely with other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and six years of relevant experience, or
Master’s degree in Engineering and five years of relevant experience, or
PhD in Engineering and four years of relevant experience.
What You’ll Bring
Leading bridge, retaining wall, and other miscellaneous structure designs on transportation projects for multiple clients in the New Jersey office.
Develop project design criteria, design calculations, construction details, quantities, and cost estimates.
Prepare and check design drawings and/or specifications.
Cost and quality control on projects within discipline.
Resolve problems, investigate design and field engineering difficulties, and coordinate schedules.
Coordinate efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort.
Serve as a task lead on projects in the planning and design phases.
What We Prefer
Experience in bridge and other transportation structures design.
Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, AASHTO Seismic Guide Specifications.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
