Role: Robotics and Controls Engineer In this role, you will contribute to the safety and precision of a next‑generation surgical robotic system by developing, implementing, and validating mission‑critical control algorithms. Because this platform is intended for eye surgery, it demands an exceptional focus on accuracy, safety, and the nuances of the surgical environment.

You will develop key features such as collision avoidance, path planning, and motion accuracy optimization. The ideal candidate has a strong background in robot kinematics, dynamics, nonlinear optimization, and algorithm development.

Required Qualifications & Abilities Education

Master’s or Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

Technical Skills

Strong proficiency in modern C++ (C++11 or newer).

Hands‑on experience developing robotics software for physical hardware.

Deep understanding of rigid body dynamics and kinematic chains.

Experience with collision‑aware trajectory generation or constrained nonlinear optimization.

Proven ability to document code and author unit tests.

Familiarity with ROS2 framework.

Experience

5+ years in robotic algorithm development and deployment on physical systems.

5+ years of experience with modern C++ development.

3+ years of experience with rigid body dynamics and kinematics.

Prior work with path planning algorithms.

Experience in medical device development is a plus.

Python experience is an asset.

Knowledge

Solid understanding of linear algebra and optimization techniques for solving linear and nonlinear problems.

Familiarity with state estimation and signal filtering methods (e.g., Kalman, Particle filters).

Experience working in simulation environments is a plus.

Soft Skills

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities.

Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.

Ability to excel in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Other Requirements

Comfortable working in lab or workshop settings alongside surgical robotic systems.
