Business Controls Analyst II
What Is the Opportunity The Business Control Analyst II will work directly with City National Bank’s Business Control Managers and lead analysts for Consumer Banking. The role partners with Risk Framework leadership to support compliance, risk monitoring, and control design across the organization.
What Will You Do
Support development and implementation of compliance‑related assessments, programs, and controls.
Analyze, evaluate, and review relevant compliance and risk management practices across the organization and network affiliates.
Analyze and evaluate data that affects technical, operational, and business functions and provide insight to the practical impacts on the business line.
Support Control Standards to ensure compliance‑related controls are documented in line with the standards.
Participate in execution of essential risk program functions, including Compliance Risk Assessments, Key Risk Indicators review, Issue Management, and Operational Losses.
Coordinate 2LOD Review & Challenge interactions with line of business and engage with 2LOD Compliance Testing to provide sufficient guidance during the testing period.
Assist with the development of a robust risk culture, risk conduct, and risk literacy within the first line of defense for Entertainment Banking activities.
Coordinate with 1st LOD Testing team to understand observations related to compliance controls and ensure appropriate actions are documented to remediate gaps.
Act as the business line liaison for risk management, compliance activities, legal engagement, and internal or external audits.
Act as a liaison representing Business Control Office at internal meetings and provide feedback and escalation decisions.
Build and sustain effective relationships and alliances across all lines of business and staff areas to deliver results and manage opportunities.
Partner with team members to contribute concise communication materials for senior management and develop presentations for internal and external meetings.
Prioritize organizational risk management objectives.
Participate in special projects as necessary and facilitate audit and examination activities.
What Do You Need to Succeed
Bachelor’s Degree
3+ years within or related to financial services
3 years in a role requiring complex problem solving
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills; ability to interact with colleagues at all levels in a peer‑like way
Strong emerging end‑to‑end generalist problem solving skills (defining, deconstructing, prioritizing, structuring quantitative and qualitative analyses)
Knowledge in Financial Services, Project Management
Demonstrated ability to influence change, build relationships, communicate effectively, work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high caliber results
Proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities
Quick learning ability, outstanding analytical skills, structured thinking, and exceptional attention to detail
Operate well under stress and drive operational change with front line to senior leadership personnel
Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to handle uncertainty and simplify complexity
Benefits and Perks Starting base salary: $60,500 - $104,500 per year. The role is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
