Position Summary The Human Resources Generalist will provide day-to-day HR support to employees and managers across all departments of our electrical utility contracting company. This role is responsible for handling HR administrative tasks, assisting with recruitment and onboarding, ensuring compliance with company policies, and supporting labor relations. Union experience is strongly preferred, as this position will play an active role in maintaining positive relationships between employees, management, and union representatives.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare paperwork and schedules for smooth new-hire onboarding process, coordinating with cross-functional departments to deliver an exceptional first-day experience
Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new-hire orientations, and exit interviews, as well as human resource audits for accuracy and compliance
Support the administration of collective bargaining agreements and assist in resolving employee concerns and grievances
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including time, attendance, and benefits information
Assist managers and employees with questions regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures
Be the primary backup for payroll processing, including weekly and semi-monthly updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, vacation/sick pay, expense reimbursements, hourly-employee validations, and benefits changes
Participate in safety, compliance, and training initiatives as needed
Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contribute to policy development
Support HR projects such as performance reviews, engagement programs, and workforce development
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred, or equivalent HR experience
2+ years of HR experience, preferably in a unionized environment
Knowledge of labor laws and HR compliance practices
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
Experience in construction, utilities, or contracting environment a plus
