Chief Finance and Operations Officer
Our client, Healthier Moms and Babies, is seeking a strategic Chief Finance and Operations Officer to join their leadership team as a key thought partner to the CEO.
Healthier Moms and Babies is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to reducing infant mortality and improving birth outcomes in their community. Through comprehensive programs that educate, empower, and inspire, they help families make positive changes that improve pregnancy outcomes and transform lives.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced finance and operations leader to maximize organizational impact, strengthen internal capacity, and directly contribute to their life-saving mission. As CFOO, you'll oversee all financial operations, Medicaid billing, administration, benefits, risk management, IT, and facilitiesplaying a pivotal role in ensuring the organization's sustainability and growth.
What You'll Do
Lead Financial Strategy Partner with the CEO on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning Oversee all accounting functions in compliance with GAAP and nonprofit regulations Manage cash flow, organizational reserves, and annual audit processes Present clear, actionable financial insights to leadership, the Board, and funders
Oversee Medicaid Billing Operations Supervise the Medicaid Billing Specialist to ensure accurate, timely billing for home visiting, doula, and behavioral health services Maintain compliance with Indiana Medicaid (IHCP) billing policies and coding requirements Monitor claim reconciliation, denials, and implement corrective processes
Drive Operational Excellence Manage employee benefits, insurance policies, facility operations, and IT systems Ensure compliance across all financial and operational functions Build and maintain strong vendor relationships
Develop Your Team Supervise and mentor the Office Manager and Medicaid Billing Specialist Foster a collaborative culture rooted in Bold Compassion, Adaptability, Collaboration, and Innovation
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit finance and operations Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, GAAP, and compliance requirements Proven supervisory experience managing multi-department teams Valid driver's license
Highly Preferred Master's degree or CPA certification Experience with Medicaid billing and government-funded programs Background managing employee benefits, risk management, IT, and facilities
Essential Skills Exceptional financial analysis and strategic planning abilities Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data for diverse audiences Proficiency with financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite High integrity, transparency, and commitment to mission-driven work Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, adaptive nonprofit environment
