Position Overview The Senior Linux System Administrator reports to the Manager, IT Technical Services and is responsible for the administration, implementation, support and management of the IT infrastructure systems; serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems. This position will also lead on assisting in the effort of managing and supporting the Linux, Storage, Backup and Recovery systems.

Knowledge Oracle Linux and Red Hat Linux system administration; Enterprise Storage, Enterprise Backups, Security; System performance monitoring tools; Effective project management techniques.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

Manage the day-to-day operations of servers and systems by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair.

Configure, maintain, and support the Linux systems.

Configure, maintain, and support the Enterprise backup and recovery systems.

Monitor and resolve backup related issues, including providing reporting on health of backup platforms.

Create and maintain documentation on backup and recovery processes, policies and procedures.

Perform file recovery tests and annual disaster recovery site tests.

Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of critical system resources.

Participate in planning and implementation of projects for system operations and systems administration.

Plan, organize, and document complex system design activities and configure systems to be consistent with policies/procedures.

Interface with customers, peers, and managers to evaluate and understand business needs.

Continually access the systems against potential threats and vulnerabilities using industry security compliance standards. Ensure that vulnerabilities are mitigated in a timely fashion.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

Education:

Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related discipline or equivalent training and experience.

Experience:

Minimum of three (7) years relevant Systems Administrator (Linux Administrator) experience including complex on-premises Oracle environments, scripting, and systems software and support. Must have extensive knowledge of Red Hat Openshit. Must have experience in the design, planning, and implementation of reliable enterprise level Linux systems.

Work Conditions Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is also dependent on input from others. Often exposed to stressful situations. Subject drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations. Occasional travel required to support remote office locations. Ability to work outside normal workdays and standard office hours. Required to maintain TWIC Card. Participate in IT Infrastructure on-call rotation.
