What to Expect We are seeking an Operations Analyst to operate Tesla's in-house automated trading platform, Autobidder, which manages the largest fleet of battery storage projects in the world, ranging from utility-scale batteries to virtual power plants.

As part of the Autobidder Operations team, you will leverage your knowledge of wholesale energy markets and energy storage systems to bid batteries into multiple wholesale energy markets, ensuring the assets meet contractual obligations and comply with market rules.

In this role, you will contribute to Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy by driving continuous improvement in battery revenues and accelerating the storage adoption needed to support high renewable power systems. You have a bias towards action, are an effective cross-functional communicator, and excel on collaborative fast-paced teams.

What You'll Do

Ensure smooth Autobidder market participation by actively monitoring Autobidder through structured on-call rotations

Monitor battery physical health and collaborate with internal teams to understand and resolve issues impacting battery health

Manage site outages to ensure minimal risk to revenue and maximal site uptime

Be an essential part of real-time battery trading team participating in wholesale energy markets by continuously improving operational efficiency, creating and maintaining procedures and tools

Aid the team in executing trading strategies, monitoring automated trading systems, and making real-time trade decisions during key market opportunities

Create operational procedures, data visualizations, and supporting analysis of asset performance and market conditions, as well as communicate complex situations to broad audiences

Develop your expertise in electricity market fundamentals and operations into systematic trading strategies by working alongside developers of machine learning models, optimization models, and software services

Collaborate, challenge, and learn from the broader Autobidder team

What You'll Bring

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Economics, or equivalent experience

Ability to quickly make analysis-based decisions in uncertain situations

Experience in energy storage and/or electricity markets

Structured, detail-oriented, systematic thinker

Ability to manipulate, analyze and visualize data and to build analytical tools programmatically (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, VBA)Collaborative teammate excited to compete as a team

Proficiency in: Python, SQL, Git, Docker

Experience with both energy and ancillary services products in one of the following wholesale electricity markets: US (ERCOT, CAISO, ISO-NE), European (UK), or Australian (AEMO)

Experience on an electricity or gas trading desk, or in the stationary storage industry

Expected Compensation $68,000 - $162,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
