Part‑Time Private Lesson Instructor (Piano) Berkeley Preparatory School’s Conservatory of Music is seeking qualified part‑time instructors to teach private, on‑campus, piano lessons. The ideal candidate for any instructional position must be committed to inspiring and guiding our eager young musicians and will meet the minimum responsibilities and requirements listed below.

Responsibilities

Provide weekly individual instruction to students ranging from beginning through advanced levels, including All‑State caliber musicians.

Tailor lessons to meet the needs of each student, fostering technical growth, musicality, and independent musicianship.

Communicate regularly with students, families, and Conservatory Director to support overall student development.

Create a positive and supportive learning environment that inspires students to achieve their full potential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

Demonstrated expertise in piano pedagogy, and in diverse musical styles, including popular music.

Prior experience teaching private lessons to students of varied ability levels and varied musical interests.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualities

Experience preparing students for auditions (e.g., All‑State, adjudications/competitions, college entrance).

A collaborative spirit and interest in contributing to a thriving school music community.
