General Description The Manager – IT Network and Unified Communications directs and leads the teams responsible for the enterprise network, providing support, project oversight, and production activities. The role collaborates with business and technology groups and is responsible for developing and maintaining business continuity and disaster recovery plans, testing key assumptions, forecasting infrastructure needs, monitoring methodologies, and budgeting. The manager is the subject matter expert for networking infrastructures.
Tasks, Duties, Functions
Manage, develop, motivate, counsel, train, and evaluate staff of four specialties; ensure accurate work, analyze errors, and resolve problems.
Prioritize, assign, and direct all work assignments and projects to support daily operations and future implementation objectives.
Create a positive and engaging work environment, promote skill development, coaching, and growth, and uphold Golden 1’s mission, vision, and core values.
Provide leadership through technical expertise for integration of software and hardware applications.
Plan future use of systems hardware and software, coordinating purchase, installation, and implementation according to department standards.
Develop network architecture, design, and ongoing review of system configurations with relevant team members.
Document and implement operating procedures and systems documentation such as gold builds, best practices, knowledge base, and disaster recovery backup and recovery.
Direct projects that cross multiple technologies, platforms, and administrative boundaries.
Maintain networking software and hardware versions, maintenance levels, registration, inventory, and upgrade security and patch levels.
Act as liaison between department managers, supervisors, and other teams for support activities and project tasks.
Ensure staff adhere to system and security standards, reviewing standards with the Chief Security Administrator and other IT Managers.
Maintain understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance, including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws.
Participate in the Management On-Call rotation.
Develop and maintain understanding of regulatory requirements and risks, establishing control activities to mitigate risks consistent with the Credit Union’s risk appetite.
Perform other job-related duties as necessary.

Effective oral and written communication skills to interpret, resolve, and document networking problems.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills; ability to articulate system methodologies and concepts, and provide technical guidance to other staff.
Manual dexterity required to operate computer hardware, hand tools, and standard office equipment.

Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, comparable discipline, or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
Minimum seven years in Information Technology in a senior-level administrator role.
Minimum three years of project management and personnel supervision.
Strong aptitude to collaborate with business owners for enterprise-wide technology planning.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, continuously changing environment.
Subject matter expert in firewalls, routers, switches, software-defined networking, and cloud networking solutions (Azure, AWS, etc.).
Experience with Akamai DDOS, load balancing, and related technologies.
Expertise in common networking technologies: NAT, PAT, DHCP, RSTP/VSTP, VLANs, FTP, TFTP, NAC, EIGRP, DNS, CIDR, ARP, AAA, TACACS, fiber optics, DWDM, VPN, DMVPN, BGP, ACLs, packet capture/analysis, NetFlow, encryption, segmentation, tunneling, filtering.
Knowledge of data center equipment, including Cisco Nexus, NX‑OS, virtual device contexts, overlay transport virtualization, virtual port channels.
Experience with multi-homed connections to multiple ISPs, redundant links, port channels, GLBP, HSRP, LACP.
F5 technologies: load balancing, iRules, iApps, Local Traffic Manager, Access Policy Manager, SAML/SSO.
Certifications:
Cisco CCNP, CCDP, or CCSP.
Project Management Professional.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged sitting throughout the workday.
Availability for emergency and on-call duty 24/7 as needed.
Occasional travel may be required.
Lift and carry communications equipment and hardware weighing up to fifty pounds.
Corrected vision in the normal range required for hardware configuration and troubleshooting.
Normal hearing required.
Manual dexterity to operate computer hardware, hand tools, and standard office equipment.
May work additional hours to accomplish tasks.
Licenses/Certifications Possession of a valid California Driver’s License is required.
