Amazon is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee project management of industrial development, including new builds, retrofits, expansions, and program initiatives from site selection through contract execution. The role covers new Fulfillment Center (FC) construction in the U.S. and renovations & tenant improvements at existing FCs, while also implementing facility network infrastructure such as sortation centers, delivery stations, and auxiliary buildings. Key Responsibilities
Lead project management of new construction of FCs throughout the U.S. and renovations and capacity improvements within existing facilities. Advise on schedule, cost, and permitting impacts. Support scope review and development with internal technical teams and operational customers to facilitate engineering and design efforts on new and remodel projects. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from small renovations to large ($100M+) new facilities. Work independently with minimal direction. Prepare reports, specifications, and technical analysis to define design requirements, equipment, and services for expansion and remodel projects. Provide technical direction on design, AutoCAD, building design, layouts, build details, schedules, and materials per NACF design parameters. Survey facilities, develop audit procedures, and recommend solutions to facility infrastructure, safety, and security problems. Negotiate contracts and contract changes, presenting formal documentation for approval. Ensure contracts are cost-effective and incorporate appropriate Service Level Agreements. Provide overall site management, coordination, planning, and subcontractor coordination. Facilitate due diligence evaluation of new opportunities. Assess project performance through key performance indicators for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and sustainability. Partner with teams on transition of base building management and oversight of all turnover documentation. Coach and guide project teams (developers, design engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, internal stakeholders) throughout the full project lifecycle. Audit contractors to verify contractor labor skills and competencies. Identify and resolve clashes, design misses, and schedule conflicts with Amazon execution teams. Establish and operate information systems for effective scheduling and contract work recording. Review designs for conformance to current building specifications. Provide critical review of current design standards to identify value engineering opportunities. Track, forecast, and manage comprehensive budgets for expansion, remodel, and new build projects. Review and guide internal and external change requests for validity and timely incorporation. Lead or assist in negotiations with regulatory bodies and authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) entities as required. Maintain clear, concise, and transparent cross‑team communication for all aspects of project delivery. Basic Qualifications
Completed Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or comparable field. 3+ years of experience as an Architect, Engineer, Construction Manager, or other construction‑related discipline. 3+ years of project management experience from design phase through implementation and operation. 3+ years of experience negotiating construction, procurement, and labor contracts. 3+ years of familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM), and scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project, or similar). Preferred Qualifications
Experience in at least two construction disciplines (General Contracting, Owner’s Representation, Commercial Development, or Engineering & Design). Experience inclusive of facilities manager or similar with capability in planning, design review & implementation, and project management/control of new structures and enhancement of existing facility buildings.
