Overview and Responsibilities CBS News Newspath seeks a supervising producer who leads by example and manages newsgathering operations for its North Region team. The supervising producer manages Newspath’s response to breaking news in the northern states, responds to video and editorial requests from CBS broadcasts, owned stations, affiliates and clients, and oversees clipping and publishing of Newspath video and scripts. The producer works closely with the managing editor and executive producers to ensure awareness of stories of interest from the North Region, assigns daily duties, credentialing and scheduling for the North Region team, and participates in the weekend manager on‑call rotation.

Run the day‑to‑day operations of the assigned region.

Make sure we have elements for the big stories out of the region.

Manage assignments linked to the region.

Make daily assignments for the team and maintain focus on priorities.

Prioritize assignments and ensure the team meets deadlines.

Ensure the accuracy of editorial elements from the assigned region.

Future planning.

Identify upcoming stories and anniversaries and coordinate coverage.

Edit video and write abstracts.

Schedule all members of the North team.

Participate in weekend manager on‑call rotation – one weekend day every six weeks.

Basic Qualifications

7+ years producing experience in a professional newsroom.

Non‑linear editing experience required; proficiency with Avid preferred.

Additional Qualifications

Excellent writer with strong oral communication skills.

Solid news judgment and experience with breaking news, live shots and video transmission.

Team player with a positive attitude and availability to work various schedules.

Supervisory experience preferable with good leadership skills and ability to motivate a team.

Ability to multitask in high‑pressure, time‑critical situations.

Degree in broadcast journalism or related field preferred.

Additional Information Hiring Salary Range: $110,000.00 – $118,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO.
