The staff hospitalist must competently care for the hospitalized patient throughout the hospital stay, including emergency evaluation and triage, admission, and formation of a differential diagnosis. A comprehensive care plan must be formulated in accordance with the most up‑to‑date, evidence‑based protocols. The hospitalist must possess excellent communication skills and collaborate with primary medical doctors, in‑house consultant physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the patient care team.
The hospitalist physician should participate in the education of house‑staff physicians, students, nurses, and all members of the patient‑care team. Patient safety and high‑quality care must be maintained while transitioning patients back to the outpatient setting upon discharge, ensuring service excellence and patient satisfaction. Participation on relevant hospital committees is encouraged to demonstrate leadership.
Qualifications Medical Degree (MD, DO) with completion of an Internal Medicine Residency. Prior outpatient experience, especially in a rural market, is a plus.
