IAM Product Owner

Must Haves
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
5+ years of experience in IAM, with at least 2 years in a product owner or similar role.
Strong understanding of IAM technologies including SSO, MFA, provisioning, and directory services (e.g., AD, Azure AD, Okta, SailPoint).
Proven experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), backlog management, and user story creation.
Plusses
Experience in regulated environments with SOX and NERC-CIP compliance.
Familiarity with modern IAM platforms such as SailPoint Identity Security Cloud, IdentityNow, or IIQ.
Knowledge of IAM lifecycle management, PAM, and authentication protocols.
Experience with PI Planning and Agile release trains.
Role Summary The IAM Product Owner leads the strategic direction and lifecycle management of the organization’s identity platforms. Acting as the voice of the customer and stakeholders, this role bridges business needs and technical capabilities to deliver secure, user-friendly, and compliant identity solutions. The Product Owner drives transformation from legacy systems to modern IAM tools, prioritizes the product backlog, and collaborates across Agile teams to ensure successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain the IAM product vision and roadmap aligned with enterprise security and business goals.
Lead IAM modernization initiatives and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors.
Backlog Management & Prioritization
Own and prioritize the IAM product backlog based on business value, risk, and strategic goals.
Write clear user stories with acceptance criteria and manage backlog visibility across teams.
Make informed trade-offs to maximize value in each release cycle.
Act as the main point of contact for development teams during sprint cycles.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and PI Planning.
Collaborate with engineering and QA to ensure backlog items are development-ready and meet acceptance criteria.
Stakeholder Engagement
Communicate product vision, strategy, and progress to executives and end-users.
Gather and incorporate feedback from security, HR, IT operations, and other stakeholders.
Align priorities across competing demands and manage expectations effectively.
Ensure IAM solutions adhere to SOX, NERC-CIP, and other regulatory requirements.
Support access certifications, entitlement reviews, and audit readiness.
Collaborate with security teams on risk assessments and identity-related reporting.
