Base pay range: $70,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr
Reporting Line:
Purchasing Manager
People Leadership:
None (mentors junior buyers as needed)
Role Purpose:
Own complex purchasing activity with minimal oversight. Secure materials, components, and services; optimize total cost; and strengthen supplier performance to meet production and business goals.
What you’ll do
Source and buy direct/indirect categories to support production schedules and organizational needs.
Analyze markets, supplier capabilities, and cost structures to make competitive, data-driven sourcing decisions.
Ensure purchasing activities comply with policies, quality standards, and applicable regulations.
Develop and manage supplier relationships; resolve delivery, quality, and cost issues swiftly.
Track supplier KPIs (OTD, quality, cost) and drive corrective actions to close gaps.
Align with engineering, operations, finance, and quality on sourcing strategies and make/buy decisions.
Identify and implement cost reductions, process improvements, and value engineering opportunities.
Administer POs end-to-end: issue, amend, expedite, and reconcile discrepancies.
Provide guidance to junior procurement team members and share best practices.
Maintain accurate purchasing records, reports, and metrics for leadership visibility.
Interfaces, Authority, and Risk
Interfaces: Manager, peers, manufacturing personnel, engineers.
Decision rights: Authorized to make decisions within established purchasing procedures.
Impact of error: Affects incoming material readiness, design/production/service processes, and on-time delivery to customers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline preferred; equivalent experience welcomed.
4–6 years in purchasing/supply chain, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments.
History of effective supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost savings achievements.
Experienced with ERP/MRP and Microsoft Office; strong spreadsheet proficiency.
Knowledge of manufacturing operations and processes for qualifying alternative components.
Comfort with computerized tools (e.g., Digi‑Key Quote Tools).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Certifications such as CPM, CPSM, or CPIM are a plus.
