Location: MDH Office of Preparedness & Response, 7462 D Candlewood Road, Hanover, MD 21076.

Main Purpose of Job As a Board Certified, Maryland Licensed Physician with an active CDS registration, this position provides clinical expertise to ensure appropriate public health and medical input into plans, training, exercises and responses for OP&R and public health and medical response partners. The role also provides recommendations for OP&R programs and grant activities, including the PHEP and HPP grants, and maintains participation with the MDH Physician on Call team. Employees must adhere to current MDH and OP&R telework policy.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

A Doctorate degree in medicine from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

Certification in an area of medical specialization by an American Medical Association Specialty Board.

Note:

Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Medical Corpsman and Physicians classifications or Nursing or Physician and Medical Services and Special Corpsman Officer specialty codes in the medicine field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

Desired Or Preferred Qualifications

An active Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) registration.

Experience with public health and medical preparedness for emergencies, including developing and implementing emergency plans, planning and participating in exercises and real-world emergency activations, participating in health care coalitions, and distributing medical countermeasures at the population level.

Experience providing clinical guidance and oversight to volunteers and other health care providers during public health and medical emergencies.

Experience with bio surveillance and early detection of agents with the potential to broadly impact populations.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Applicants must be certified by an American Medical Association Specialty Board in an area of medical specialization.

Applicants must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A current license copy must be attached to the application.
