Frontend Developer - Ruby on Rails - (Remote)
ArcheSys Inc invites a highly skilled Frontend Developer to join our remote, full‑time engineering team dedicated to delivering cutting‑edge digital solutions for public sector clients. Roles and Responsibilities
Full‑stack feature development of responsive, accessible user experiences, including form flows, data reporting, and user access management. Active contribution to and maintenance of the MD Web Design System (MDWDS), primarily through Web Components (Lit). Collaboration across engineering, design, and product teams to refine technical requirements and deliver high‑value solutions. Leadership in code quality, code reviews, and accessibility standards to ensure maintainable, accessible software. Alignment of development efforts with business and project goals through strong technical judgment and clear communication. Required Skills & Experience
Deep experience in Ruby on Rails, including ERB template rendering for frontend output. Proficiency in core web technologies: JavaScript, modern CSS (Sass/SCSS, CSS‑in‑JS), and browser‑native Web Components. Expertise in modern web accessibility practices (WCAG) and responsive design. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for both technical and non‑technical audiences. Preferred Skills & Experience
4‑8 years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails in a production environment. Experience designing, building, or maintaining shared component libraries or design systems used across multiple project teams. Familiarity with the Lit library for building lightweight Web Components. Experience with federal or state government design systems (e.g., USWDS) or static site generators (e.g., Eleventy). Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently and within a team. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Experience working in an agile environment. Passion for building high‑quality software. Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree will be considered a plus. Technological Proficiency
Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS. Familiarity with modern programming languages and web technologies. Familiarity with agile tools such as Jira, Slack, and Confluence. Previous experience in healthcare, finance, or government sectors is advantageous. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization tools. Familiarity with Redis, Sidekiq, or background job processing. Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems. Experience working in a DevOps culture and with monitoring tools like New Relic or Datadog. Knowledge of GraphQL and API‑first development. Stakeholder Communication
Open communication with stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status and milestones. Act as point of contact between clients, stakeholders, and development teams.
