Director, Deal Architecture and Governance
Position summary: This critical role leads the strategic development and execution of high‑value commercial proposals across North America. The Director will partner with Sales, Finance, Pricing, Contracts, and Legal to create customer‑centric deal structures that drive revenue while ensuring compliance and profitability.
Responsibilities
Lead the Deal Architecture and Governance Function: Provide leadership and direction to the Deal Architecture and Governance Team, driving best practices in deal modeling, pricing strategy, and proposal execution. Serve as subject‑matter expert and escalation point for complex deals.
Strategic Proposal Management: Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Legal, Sales, Product Management) to develop, review, and approve strategic proposals aligned with Leica’s financial and operational targets, incorporating competitive intelligence and market trends.
Pricing and Governance Leadership: Own and enhance the Deal Calculator and related modeling tools; ensure alignment with company pricing policies and contract terms; drive governance and compliance across all deal structures.
Business Partnership: Act as a trusted advisor to Sales and Leadership teams, participate in pipeline reviews and strategic account planning, and partner with Finance and Legal to mitigate risk and maintain financial integrity.
Talent Development: Mentor and coach the Deal Design team, fostering accountability, analytical excellence, and continuous improvement; identify resource needs and build functional capability.
Data‑Driven Decision Making: Leverage analytics to track key metrics (deal cycle times, pricing exceptions, win/loss rates) and use insights to optimize processes and support continuous improvement.
Process Improvement & Automation: Identify inefficiencies in current deal workflows and implement enhancements to streamline proposal development and approval, including AI‑enabled automation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field.
6+ years of experience in commercial operations, pricing strategy, or deal management.
3+ years of people‑leadership experience managing high‑performing teams.
Advanced Excel modeling skills and experience managing complex financial models.
Familiarity with Salesforce.com, PowerBI, and CPQ or pricing software.
Strong influencing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills across leadership levels.
Proven ability to manage complex, high‑value proposals in a matrixed environment.
Desired Additional Skills
Master’s degree.
Experience in the clinical diagnostics, healthcare, or life sciences industry.
Familiarity with SAP or other ERP software solutions.
Deep understanding of contract terms, commercial finance principles, and value‑based selling.
Benefits & Compensation The salary range for this role is $160,000 – $190,000. This range reflects the possible compensation for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The position is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. Comprehensive benefits include paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) retirement savings plan.
