WORK LOCATION:

Hybrid schedule, in‑office 3 days per week at the Sargent & Lundy office in Peachtree Corners, GA.

Piping Engineering & Analysis Synopsis

Evaluates piping systems per ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, B31.1, B31.7, and applicable codes.

Specialty topics include vibration monitoring, hydraulic transients, thermal stratification, pipe rupture, wall thinning due to FAC/MIC, and flaw evaluations.

Position Specific Details Provides senior‑level technical support by performing engineering tasks such as preparing and reviewing complex calculations, designs, and specifications. Monitors staff work to ensure requirements are met.

Prepares and reviews complex calculations.

Reviews simple system/structural designs and prepares complex system designs.

Prepares documented design input for drawing production (P&IDs and Master Diagrams). Performs engineering review of drawings.

Prepares and reviews equipment specifications and material specifications.

Prepares bid evaluations and economic calculations. Solicits vendor data.

Prepares simple reports/studies.

Develops discipline project budgets, schedules, and work plans. Monitors own work to stay on budget and on schedule.

Provides discipline input to simple proposals.

Communicates effectively in writing and orally to project team members and managers. Presents technical information clearly in all deliverables.

Prepares reports and deliverables that meet client requirements and summarizes meeting notes clearly and timely.

Essential Skills And Experience

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET‑approved program with emphasis in solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, and finite element analysis.

5 or more years of relevant experience.

Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes.

Knowledge of the design, selection, and application of pipe supporting elements.

Working knowledge of commercially available piping products.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Valued But Not Required Skills And Experience

PE license.

Ability to navigate a 3D CAD model.

Experience with AutoPIPE or PIPESTRESS software.

Knowledge of gas dynamics and hydraulic transients.

Knowledge of pipe condition assessment.

Experience with ANSYS Workbench and Mechanical ADP.
