Payroll Specialist 1 – Oregon Health & Science University Base pay range: $23.63/hr – $31.98/hr

Department Overview Position is in the Payroll department, within OHSU Finance. OHSU Finance is the division charged with accurately processing, reporting, and interpreting the university’s financial transactions. Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, this role is responsible for timely and accurate processing of payroll and timekeeping documents. This role also delivers payroll checks and printing of payroll documents. The position provides high level customer service to employees, managers and other recipients via phone, email and the Jira customer service system.

Responsibilities

Review accuracy and process documents into the Oracle Payroll System including Federal and State W‑4 forms, direct deposit forms and payroll deduction forms.

Calculate and code retroactive increase adjustments.

Process retirement information, garnishments and other legal withholdings.

Process negative accruals exceptions.

Input payroll information into the system including new and transfer employees’ information.

Respond to requests regarding payroll and timekeeping records, verifications of employment and unemployment claims.

Sort and deliver the payroll mail and documents including garnishments, tax documents and checks.

Provide high level customer service to employees, managers, ex‑employees and departments via phone, email and Jira.

Ensure on‑site check delivery as well as on‑site documents intake including W‑4 forms, garnishments, tax documents.

Required Qualifications

One year of payroll processing experience (computing, verifying and entering data).

Proficiency with Excel.

Ten‑key by touch.

Highly customer service oriented.

Preferred Qualifications

More than one year of payroll processing experience.

Additional Details Position is 100% on‑site at OHSU Marquam Plaza Monday – Friday; between 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
