Job Purpose
The Fire Alarm Engineer/Programmer supports the sales team with design, estimating, programming, commissioning, and testing of fire alarm systems. The role requires on‑site programming, routine maintenance, and compliance with local, state, and federal codes. The engineer assists the CAD team with submittal drawings, data sheets, permitting, and other duties as assigned. Salary range: $40.00 - $50.00/hour, commensurate with relevant education, experience, and other job‑related factors. Duties and Responsibilities
Design, install, test, and maintain fire alarm systems to ensure compliance with fire safety codes and regulations. Create fire alarm system designs based on building layouts, codes, and client needs. Install and program fire alarm systems, including wiring, control panels, and devices, according to specifications and codes. Conduct thorough inspections and tests to ensure all components are working properly and to commission the system upon completion. Perform routine maintenance, such as checking batteries and detectors, and troubleshoot faults to repair systems promptly. Ensure all systems meet local, state, and federal codes and regulations, such as those from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Assist the sales team to align solutions with client needs. Assist with product data submittals and submission of shop drawings. Position may require travel as necessary. Other Duties

Minimum 1824 months of installation experience or equivalent knowledge. Fire alarm programming EST3, EST4, IO, and Edge experience, preferred. NICETII, NICET III, preferred. AutoCAD and Bluebeam experience, preferred. Technical expertise in electrical systems and fire safety codes. Deep understanding of electrical wiring, circuits, and fire alarm system components like control panels, sensors, and communication systems. In‑depth knowledge of fire safety codes and regulations. Ability to use design software (CAD), diagnostic tools, and specific fire alarm system software. Ability to program fire alarm systems to meet specific project requirements. Continued development in system installation and commissioning. Ability to use testing tools, devices, and equipment. Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities. Ability to effectively communicate with employees, management, and customers. Education, License and Experience
High School Diploma or approved equivalent. Holds OSHA 10 or higher certification. Ongoing involvement in Beacons training programs. Maintain a valid driver’s license. Physical Requirements
Requires sitting, prolonged standing, walking, handling, gripping, pushing, pulling, bending, and stretching. Requires stooping, crouching, crawling, and working on or under floors. Ability to transport ladders up to 12 feet in height and lift ladders off vehicle roof racks. Willing and able to climb and stand on ladders and scaffolding. Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, including overhead. Maintain a clear background check to satisfy customer jobsite badging requirements. Submit to vaccinations and screening tests required by customer jobsite protocols. Maintain compliance with company drug and alcohol screening policies. Travel Requirements
