Under the general supervision of the Financial Manager, works in the continuing development of accounting, proposal and grant administration system. Responsible for preparation and analysis of extramural proposals. Prepares detailed budgets and all agency and University forms ensuring compliance with respective policies. Submits proposals and manage awards during their lifetime. Responsible for maintaining ongoing financial review of the extramural funding. Special projects as warranted by MSO/Chair and RFA/Financial Manager. Responsibilities
Proposal Administration – 30%: prepare to submission for various agencies (mostly Federal and Corporate); utilize electronic research administration tools; prepare complex budgets and agency forms; train PIs on new systems/requirements; maintain detailed notes on EMF awards; initiate status checks; liaise between Office of Research, PIs, UC campuses, and grant agencies; advise on reporting requirements. Research Financial Analysis – 60%: monitor accounts; prepare reconciled financial reports and budgets; review fiscal transactions; advise supervisor on account status; set up new awards and cost centers; prepare gift processing forms; analyze spending, project funding needs, and cost projections; ensure timely close-out of funds. Miscellaneous – 10%: other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience/training Excellent knowledge of Excel; familiarity with Google Sheets Ability to interpret University policies and procedures regarding Accounting and Business and Financial Services Familiar with UC policies and procedures regarding financial and budgetary transactions Working knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures Strong organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications 1-3 years work experience as Sponsored Projects Analyst or equivalent Familiarity with Research.Gov, Grants.gov, Cayuse & Orbit Familiarity with PGM, EDM, TOE system, EPM, and other campus systems as needed Knowledge of Accounting in general Anticipatory mindset Experience working in Higher Education Special Conditions of Employment
