Project Description POS Software rollout to 400 stores (1000+ registers) across VA.
About the Role This is a System Administrator role. It requires a seasoned professional with a strong technical background. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment supporting a diverse portfolio of in‑store technologies, integrated platforms, and retail systems.
As a System Administrator, you'll maintain the health, stability, and performance of the retail environment, implement upgrades, manage hardware/software, support integrations, and troubleshoot complex issues.
Your work involves collaborating with cross‑functional teams (store ops, IT infra, network, vendors) and includes supporting POS rollouts, enhancements, and break/fix scenarios.
Systems Administration, Monitoring, and Maintenance – 50%
Daily checks of supported systems and software, ensuring proper backups, applying OS updates, and configuration changes.
Installing and configuring new hardware and software on supported systems.
Documenting system configuration.
Security and compliance of supported systems.
Managing user accounts, resetting passwords, etc., on supported systems.
Troubleshooting technical queries and problems with supported systems.
Using PowerShell to automate administrative tasks and improve efficiency.
Retail Operations Support – 20%
Interface directly with users to resolve communications issues with ABC registers, licensee workstations, and servers.
Using administrative tools to assist users with software issues.
Implementing security procedures and tools.
Working with third‑party vendors to replace failed hardware after troubleshooting.
Ensuring client services processes and procedures are followed and documented.
Providing excellent customer service via follow‑up calls/email to clients.
Configuring OS settings and POS software settings for registers, workstations, and servers.
Application Support – 30%
Configuration, administration, and support of GKOmniPOS software on the retail environment.
Configuration, administration, and support of the retail environment wireless infrastructure.
Configuration, administration, and support of the retail infrastructure Active Directory Domain and Certificate Services (Windows Server 2019).
Working with vendors for new application builds.
Identifying potential risk in the current environment and collaborating with vendors and other lines of business to remediate.
Qualifications – Experience
PowerShell scripting – 5 years
Scripting – 5 years
Windows 10 Administration, Configuration, Patching – 5 years
Networking – 3 years (highly desired)
SaaS Background – 6 months (nice to have)
POS (Point of Service) – 6 months (nice to have)
