Senior Formulation Scientist - Hair

to lead their Haircare team.

Salary/Hourly Rate $90k - $100k

Position Overview The Senior Formulation Scientist - Hair will lead the development of a new line of haircare products. They will be involved in all aspects of product development from concept to commercialization.

Responsibilities

The Senior Formulation Scientist - Hair will lead the creation and development of advanced haircare formulas, including shampoos, conditioners, oils, and hair treatments

Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, and Manufacturing.

Conduct research on ingredient functionality, hair fiber behavior, and emerging technologies to improve product performance and sensory experience.

Oversee testing and analysis to confirm product stability, compatibility, and claims validation.

Ensure all products meet global safety and regulatory requirements throughout the development process.

Provide technical expertise to resolve formulation and scale-up challenges from lab to production.

Create and maintain precise documentation such as batch records, formulation standards, and raw material data.

Support team growth by mentoring junior formulators.

Stay informed on market trends, innovative raw materials, and new technologies to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.

Required Skills/Experience

7+ years of experience in hair product formulation.

Knowledge of emulsion and surfactant science.

Strong understanding of raw materials, formulation chemistry, and product stability testing.

Experience working with contract manufacturers on product scale-up.

Preferred Experience/Skills

Experience working with vendors to choose raw materials.

Previous leadership experience.

Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related science is required.
