Position overview: The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Personnel and Administrative Services is seeking to hire a Deputy Chief Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)/Affirmative Action (AA) Officer. In this critical role, you will assist in the review and resolution of highly complex EEO/AA matters and work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment to uphold equity, inclusion, and compliance across the agency. Essential Functions
Under administrative direction, serves as Deputy Chief Equal Employment Office (EEO)/Affirmative Action (AA)Officer serving as an advanced specialist, performing the most complex, highly specialized, professional personnelduties by developing and evaluating policies, procedures, and systems for implementation of the legal requirementsof Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and 504 provisions applicable to the Illinois Department of Healthcare &Family Services
Researches and evaluates reports and/or complaints of discrimination
Receives, researches, and evaluates requests for reasonable accommodation
Identifies, develops, and evaluates alternative employment opportunities for employees suffering permanentlydisabling conditions
Develops the ADA/504 Chapter for the Agency’s Annual Aff…
Reviews and evaluates Agency contractual agreements with vendors and suppliers
Serves as management liaison with CMS, the BAS, facilities security personnel, the State Fire Marshall, and theFire Department in the development of an emergency evacuation plan for Agency work locations
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumeratedabove
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably withcourses in business or public administration
Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience investigating and researching Equal Employment Opportunitydiscrimination and complaints
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience reviewing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)/504 cases/issues
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience interpreting a Personnel Code, Personnel Rules and Pay Plan for a public or private organization
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience developing and evaluating policies and procedures for implementation of legal requirements of ADA and 504 provisions for a public or private organization
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience conducting training regarding ADA and 504 provisions
Conditions of Employment
Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history
Requires the ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop
