We’re seeking an experienced, commercially driven
Director of Business Development
to join our growing CDMO team, focused on
Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API)
services. This is a client-facing, high-impact role responsible for expanding our pipeline, closing strategic accounts, and helping biopharma clients bring critical therapies to market.
Base pay range $180.00/yr - $220.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Identify and close new API CDMO business opportunities across innovator and specialty pharma clients
Lead end-to-end BD activities — from prospecting to proposal development, contract negotiation, and handover to project teams
Build long-term partnerships with biopharma companies developing small molecule APIs (early- to late-stage)
Represent the company at key industry events, trade shows, and face-to-face client meetings across the East Coast and beyond
Collaborate closely with Technical, Project Management, and Regulatory teams to align proposals with capabilities and timelines
Provide accurate revenue forecasting, pipeline updates, and market intelligence to senior leadership
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client-facing roles within a CDMO, CMO, or pharmaceutical services company
Deep understanding of small molecule API development, scale-up, and GMP manufacturing processes
Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets in a technical, solution-based selling environment
Strong network within the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors, ideally across the East Coast
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
Located on the East Coast. Ideally New England area.
