Business Development Leader
with extensive API experience to drive growth across North America. In this pivotal role, you will manage the full sales cycle – from identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to closing deals and building long‑term partnerships. Your expertise in the API market, strong industry network, and proven sales success will be crucial to driving revenue and expanding the company’s market presence.
Primary Responsibilities:
Extensive API Experience:
Leverage your in‑depth knowledge of the API industry and your established network within the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors to identify and pursue new business opportunities for the company’s API distribution and CDMO services.
Leverage Your Network:
Use your strong relationships and access to decision‑makers in the API and pharmaceutical industries to develop new business, expand our client base, and position the company as a leader in the API space.
Pursue New Business:
Proactively prospect and develop business relationships, targeting pharmaceutical and biotech companies in North America seeking high‑quality API development and manufacturing solutions.
Lead the Full Sales Cycle:
Manage the sales process from lead generation through to proposal development, contract negotiation, and closing deals. Ensure a seamless experience for clients throughout the sales journey.
Manage the Sales Pipeline:
Track and manage sales activities using CRM tools like Salesforce or Hubspot. Keep an active pipeline, and follow up with leads to ensure timely and successful closure.
Foster Long‑Term Client Relationships:
Build and nurture lasting relationships with clients, positioning the company as a trusted partner for ongoing API distribution and manufacturing needs.
Achieve Sales Targets:
Meet or exceed sales targets, including monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals, directly contributing to the company’s growth and success in the API space.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Life Sciences field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacology, Biomedical Sciences). A focus on pharmaceutical sciences or API development is preferred.
Proven Industry Experience:
5+ years of business development or sales experience, ideally in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, or CDMO sectors. Extensive experience in API distribution, API manufacturing, or related CDMO services is highly desirable.
Established Network in the API Space:
A strong, existing network of contacts within the API and pharmaceutical industries, with proven access to key decision‑makers at pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and research organizations.
Proven Seller with a Hunter Mentality:
A track record of success in business development, including prospecting, developing new business, and closing sales. You’re comfortable with cold outreach and turning leads into long‑term clients. Your “hunter” mentality and persistence are key to your success.
