Our client is hiring a Traveling Safety Manager to lead jobsite safety across multiple steel erection projects nationwide. This field-facing role blends training, auditing, and coaching with hands‑on partnership in the field, and requires comfort with extended, multi‑week travel. Company truck and travel per diem provided.

Responsibilities

Drive the onsite safety program: orientations, toolbox talks, and targeted training tailored to steel erection activities.

Perform routine audits and hazard assessments; create site‑specific safety plans, JHAs/JSAs, and implement corrective actions.

Investigate incidents and near misses, document findings, track metrics, and follow through on improvements.

Partner with superintendents, project managers, GCs, and trades in coordination meetings to keep safety aligned with schedule and production.

Maintain thorough safety records and compliance documentation; interface with regulatory parties as needed.

Requirements

5+ years of construction safety experience (steel erection/heavy commercial preferred) and willingness to travel extensively (about 70–80%, often multi‑week rotations).

Deep working knowledge of OSHA construction standards, including steel erection, fall protection, cranes/rigging; proven ability to train crews.

Safety certifications such as OSHA 30, CHST, CSP, are preferred

Clear communicator with strong leadership, technology, and reporting skills; able to influence field teams.

Physically able to work at height and in outdoor conditions across a range of climates.
