Senior Robotics C++ Software Engineer
Join a pioneering team at the forefront of surgical robotics innovation. Our client is developing a next‑generation, AI‑driven, image‑guided robotic system designed to enhance the precision, dexterity, and outcomes of ophthalmic and microsurgical procedures. This is your opportunity to make a tangible impact on global healthcare by building technology that elevates human capability and improves patient lives.
As a Senior Robotics C++ Software Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing and implementing the core software architecture that powers an advanced surgical robotic platform. You’ll work closely with experts in AI, imaging, and mechanical engineering to develop deterministic, safety‑critical control systems that meet the stringent demands of real‑world surgical environments.
Your work will involve
Architecting and implementing real‑time motion control software using modern C++ (C++11 and above)
Supporting systems with EtherCAT servo drives, safety redundancy, and fail‑safe diagnostics
Debugging hardware interactions, Linux kernel latency, and real‑time performance issues
Collaborating across disciplines to bring up new peripherals and ensure robust, safe operation
Conducting rigorous software testing with both hardware and simulation environments
What You’ll Bring Education & Experience
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field
5+ years of experience developing software in modern C++
5+ years deploying and testing in Linux environments
Technical Expertise
Deep understanding of deterministic control systems and cascaded loop optimization
Strong skills in Linux systems programming (pthreads, shared memory, pipes, etc.)
Experience with ROS 2, gRPC, or similar asynchronous IPC frameworks
Proficiency in debugging and performance profiling using gdb or equivalent tools
Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) is advantageous
Bonus: background in kinematics, motion planning, or embedded C/C++
Soft Skills
Strong analytical mindset and problem‑solving ability
Excellent collaboration and communication skills
Comfort working hands‑on with hardware in a lab or workshop environment
Passion for innovation, teamwork, and accountability
What’s Offered
The chance to help build the future of surgical robotics and intelligent automation
A collaborative, fast‑paced startup environment with cross‑disciplinary innovation
Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package
This is a unique opportunity for a technically exceptional engineer who thrives at the intersection of robotics, real‑time software, and healthcare innovation. If you’re ready to help redefine what’s possible in surgical precision, we’d love to hear from you.
