Our client, a leading electrical manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Compliance Engineer to become the cornerstone of their product integrity and certification efforts.
This is not just a compliance role; it’s a mission‑critical position where you will be the key liaison with regulatory bodies, directly influencing how they bring safe, reliable, and certified products to market.
Your Mission As the Compliance Engineer, you will be the central authority for ensuring their electrical products, systems, and manufacturing processes meet all applicable regulatory, safety, and quality standards. You will navigate a complex world of codes—including IEC, HUD, NEC, IPC, ISO, IBC, UL, and NFPA—to safeguard their compliance and uphold their reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Liaison & Strategy:
Serve as the primary point of contact for state modular building authorities, inspection agencies, and certification bodies like UL. Manage all submittals, audits, and renewal processes.
UL Certification Management:
Own and manage all aspects of our client's UL certification efforts, from initial testing to maintaining ongoing compliance and managing factory audits.
Code Interpretation & Implementation:
Interpret and ensure adherence to a wide range of codes (IBC, NEC, HUD, NFPA) and monitor for changes, guiding the engineering and manufacturing teams on regulatory impacts.
Internal Auditing & Collaboration:
Lead internal compliance audits across engineering, manufacturing, and quality control, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and cross‑functional collaboration.
Testing & Validation Oversight:
Oversee and validate all product testing protocols (electrical, fire, structural) and ensure all documentation meets rigorous traceability standards for certification.
What You Bring (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or quality management, preferably in modular construction, manufacturing, or a related industry.
Demonstrated, hands‑on experience working with
UL standards
and state modular building programs.
Strong working knowledge of key electrical and building standards (NEC, IEC, NFPA, IBC, etc.).
Experience with ISO‑9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Proficiency in reading technical drawings and using measurement/testing equipment.
Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels.
