Underwriting Specialist, Middle Market Solutions, Property
We are looking for a commercial property expert for a Monoline Property underwriting role that includes both new business production and renewal management.
Job Summary As an underwriter, you will directly write and grow a book focused on Real Estate, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Healthcare, and Wholesale Distribution businesses. You will market to assigned brokers, coordinate with internal teams, and drive profitable growth while maintaining profitability and adhering to underwriting authority.
Base Pay Range $148,614 – $201,066 per year.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Establish relationships with key trading partners and drive submission activity across assigned brokers.
Be responsible for profit, growth, and retention of assigned book.
Meet or exceed new business production goals while maintaining profitability across the associated portfolio.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and brokers to retain key renewals and coordinate Risk Services & Claims Service plans.
Maintain and develop internal and external relationships.
Develop and execute a prospect pipeline with trading partners and cross‑sell opportunities.
Desired Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree.
3+ years of underwriting experience in the Middle Market Monoline Property segment or a multiline background.
Confidence in building marketplace presence and becoming a trusted advisor to assigned agents/brokers.
Presentation and public speaking skills.
Strong negotiation and sales acumen.
Invest in local broker and insurance marketplace relationships.
Understanding of current insurance marketplace conditions.
Adherence to organizational and regulatory rules and underwriting authority.
Knowledge of property insurance coverage, terms, and conditions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
