Job Description Head of HSE
— Automation Personnel Services is seeking an experienced
Head of HSE
to work in Belle Chase, LA. This position is responsible for the health and safety of a company’s employees and the environment. They create and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Pay Rate
$100,000 - $130,000
Schedule and Hours
Full Time Monday through Friday
Head of HSE – Duties and Responsibilities
Recordkeeping: Implement, modify, and document recordkeeping, using online computer technology and identifying the need to implement other technology if needed.
Forms and Manuals: Prepare and update forms and manuals for personnel and direct their work activities.
Leadership: Coach and teach the safety personnel and field staff, and provide direct oversight and annual review of safety personnel.
Manage incidents: Investigate accidents and incidents and identify trends to improve safety.
Team Collaboration: Coordinate and communicate regularly with all departments to ensure proper safe operations, including accounting, HR/payroll, and operations. Survey operations to ascertain safety needs and make recommendations.
Manage Emergencies: Respond to health and safety-related issues and manage emergency procedures.
Manage Staff and Equipment: Ensure health and safety equipment, such as PPE, is provided and used. Hire, manage, and assess the competence of the health and safety team.
Budget: Manage safety budget.
Relations: Maintain good relationships with contractors and third-parties.
Ad-Hoc Reporting: Prepare other reports as requested.
Other ad-hoc duties as assigned.
Head of HSE – Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering or related field (preferred NEBOSH, CSP, etc)
At least 5 years of relevant experience managing HSE functions (ideally in a leadership position).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of relevant maritime regulations and industry standards (preferred).
Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards.
Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
The Head of HSE will work both in an office setting and outdoors. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear, use hands to grasp, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, walk; lift/push/pull objects up to 50 lbs. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
