This is a functional role (not an IT position) in the Finance Corporate Accounting organization working across Finance functional teams, the IT engineering organization, and various business units. Seventy percent of this role is business and process oriented, and the other 30% is more technical. As an individual contributor, the business systems analyst will be responsible for ensuring the success of delivering finance requirements when the business is delivering functional or offering changes; in-depth content knowledge is required to define scenarios and complete testing validations. The ideal candidate can operate across concurrent efforts and quickly switch between projects.
This position requires strong cross-functional skills, effective change management, and the ability to concurrently operate in multiple phases and projects. Within Finance processes, the primary focus is Money Movement (Intuit moving money on behalf of its customers). Many systems in scope are proprietary service-based systems supporting Payments, Payroll, Capital and QuickBooks Sales Tax products.
The individual must have comprehensive systems requirements/implementation and testing experience in Accounting and money movement functional processes and financial systems, strong project management skills, and exceptional communication skills. The person will ensure that finance functionality delivered works as expected alongside business functionality. This individual should have good business sense, be independent, drive-focused, a team player, and be able to communicate clearly with diverse groups. Proficiency in quantitative/qualitative analytical methodologies and tools is required.
Responsibilities
Scope – Partner with business stakeholder groups to understand the scope of platform capability releases and business-driven initiatives impacting the Finance Money Movement group. Collaborate with Finance Process Architects to transfer knowledge and apply learnings to deliver Finance functional requirements to the platform(s). Test Coverage – Work with IT and Finance teams to ensure test scope coverage is complete and tests are executed correctly. Review results with process architects and Finance process owners to ensure the system is working as designed, deadlines are met, and Finance requirements are implemented efficiently and effectively. Test Validations – Possess deep understanding of business processes and technology platform; identify defects within delivered functionality while applying technical and business process expertise. Entrance & Exit of Testing Phases – Work with stakeholders to ensure the system performs as designed prior to release to production and help resolve roadblocks that prevent Finance from signing off on a test cycle. Change Management and Communication – Drive overall change management to Finance stakeholders throughout the software lifecycle to minimize surprises; excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to assess risk and business impact for prioritization and tradeoff decisions. Project Management/Status – Manage multiple concurrent projects and communicate project status regularly, escalating to leadership when necessary. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Business Systems or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 3–5 years of functional finance/business systems experience. Skills particularly important to success are: Strong systems/process orientation with analytical thinking, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communications, presentation, and influencing skills; ability to raise issues appropriately to resolve them. Ability to influence people and indirectly manage a team to execute complex initiatives. Ability to manage complexity and work across functions and businesses to accomplish large-scale goals. Ability to perform metrics analysis. Comfort with cross-functional teams and willingness to voice opinions. Ability to understand both business needs and the technologies to implement them. Basic data analysis skills; ability to analyze data and identify issues; SQL knowledge is extremely beneficial. The expected base pay range for this position is in Southern California: $147,000 – $199,000.
