RECREATION CENTER SUPERVISOR- YOUTH PROGRAMS

Job Overview : As a Recreation Center Supervisor-Youth Programs, you will plan, develop, and implement all components of the operation and programming of the School Age Program at your locality. This includes planning program offerings, negotiating school bus routes, ensuring all state licensing standards are met, supervising assigned staff, managing the budget and purchasing needs for your facility, planning and organizing staff development, and managing performance evaluations. Responsibilities : You will have the opportunity to work directly with the Citizens of Newport News, assist in the development of strategic planning, development, design and operational goals, and assist with developing policy and procedures. This is a fast-paced position with many moving parts but will provide job satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment when providing a fun learning environment for the youth in our community! Salary and Benefits : This role has a full salary range of $39,924.00 - $66,875.00. The targeted hiring range for this opening, based on qualifications, experience, and market considerations, is included in the job listing. This is a full-time position that offers a flexible schedule. Community Centers are open 7 days a week. Qualifications : This position requires 48 semester hours of college credit, which includes 12 semester hours of child-related subjects, and 1 year of programmatic experience in professional recreational programs to include 6 months of lead or supervisory experience, or any combination of education and experience that meets the standards established by Virginia Code section 22VAC40-185-190. A comprehensive background investigation to include a local, state, and sex offender criminal history check as well as FBI Fingerprinting will be required.
