Residential Life Shift Leader (Men's Residential)
Are you passionate about making a difference in others' lives? Then come join the Straight and Narrow team! Headquartered in Paterson, NJ, Straight and Narrow is the largest program of its kind. We provide innovative and compassionate services to individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders. We are looking for dedicated, caring, and compassionate people to work in our Residential/Outpatient Treatment Facilities and Community Programs. Schedule per week: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (8:00 am - 4:00 pm) Location: Paterson, NJ Job Summary: Supervise Residential Life staff and client outside appointments. Ensure a clean and orderly physical plant and take a leadership role in maintaining a safe, disciplined, and caring environment on the unit. Be available on-call 24/7 in the absence of the Assistant Director of Residential Life. Position Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain a safe, disciplined, and caring therapeutic environment and supervise all clients. Assist in covering Residential Life Supervisor responsibilities in their absence, in collaboration with the RLD director. Thoroughly know and enforce CC-Straight & Narrow’s Policies & Procedures and Clients’ Handbook. Guide and assign tasks to RL Associates, filling in when necessary. Cover shifts when understaffed. Provide crisis intervention and de-escalate incidents. Participate in client interventions, case conferences, and MDT meetings as needed. Coordinate clients’ sick calls with the medical department. Ensure clients attend scheduled outside appointments and conduct searches upon their return according to policy. Prepare daily client count sheets. Schedule and supervise clients’ housekeeping tasks. Monitor and order supplies. Conduct regular checks of client rooms and common areas. Complete rounds every 30 minutes to account for clients. Report and investigate issues or damages via the online repair system. Coordinate with food service for meal modifications and dietary restrictions. Greet and orient new clients. Wear and ensure adherence to the uniform policy. Document infractions and merits in the EHR system. Follow scheduled clinical appointments and facilitate educational sessions. Conduct family visits professionally, adhering to policies. Complete shift tasks and endorse to incoming staff. Maintain staffing ratios and follow EHR policies. Complete departmental orientation within 30 days. Facilitate recreational activities and provide non-prescription medications as needed. Cross-train in all Straight and Narrow programs. Work location and schedule may change based on agency needs. Facilitate and document psychoeducational and H&I group sessions. Provide transportation using company vehicles for appointments. Drive company vehicles for job tasks as assigned. Requirements: Associate's degree with one (1) year supervisory experience, or a high school diploma with at least five (5) years of experience in addiction and mental health fields. Working towards CADC/Recovery Specialist certification preferred. CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
