The role oversees the accurate classification of goods for import and export, ensuring compliance with customs laws across the US, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Responsibilities include leading a team of customs classification professionals, developing policies, and ensuring adherence to trade regulations. This position reports to the Global Customs Governance Leader and collaborates with the Global Customs Operations Teams. Key Responsibilities
Leading and managing a team of customs specialists, providing guidance, training, and performance management. Developing and maintaining classification policies and procedures to comply with regulations like U.S. CBP and local laws. Determining and maintaining accurate HS codes, analyzing goods, and advising on classification issues. Managing compliance risks, avoiding penalties, and ensuring timely classifications. Training internal stakeholders on customs requirements. Collaborating with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth customs operations. Participating in audits and maintaining data integrity in classification databases. Identifying process improvements for better compliance and efficiency. Qualifications
Deep understanding of customs regulations, ideally as a US Licensed Customs Broker. Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills. Attention to detail and familiarity with customs systems and ERP software. Engineering background or understanding of product engineering is a plus. U.S. citizenship, permanent residence, refugee status, or asylum status due to export control laws. Work Environment and Benefits
