Job Title: Retail Operations Manager Location: Hudson, New York Salary: $20.46-$38.67 hourly Job ID: 103686394637-17813583531 PetSmart does Anything for Pets and Everything for You – JOIN OUR TEAM! This role is accountable for merchandising and inventory management, pet care operations, opening and/or closing the store, leading associates, financial outcomes and maintaining a safe and organized environment. Responsibilities
People Leadership Participates in employment decisions such as recruiting, interviewing, and coaching. Facilitates the associate experience and supports associate development; including training, onboarding, reviews, labor management, mentoring, succession planning, and coaching for accountability. Address and administer associate complaints and grievances. Prioritize, delegate, and validate daily tasks for associates to meet business and pet parent needs. Lead and coach associates on proper operational processes to ensure pets in our care are safe and healthy. Coordinate staffing coverage for process activities in pivotal areas of the store (pet care maintenance, hotel cleaning, salon cleaning, etc.). Validate completion of assigned operational messages and video engagement. Communicate company information and priorities to associates to ensure alignment. Recognize and celebrate associates driving overall engagement. Overall Store Experience Oversee healthcare of store-owned pets and care standards for habitats (bird, reptile, small animal, cricket, fish) and sick store-owned pets. Oversee inventory management and pricing processes, including accuracy, receiving, stocking, counts, rotations, and planogram compliance. Evaluate operations and seek opportunities to improve experiences and services. Maintain vendor relationships, backroom standards, and communication boards. Oversee Buy Online and Pick Up In Store and Ship From Store programs. Identify sales trends through analysis and merchandising activities. Make sound merchandising decisions regarding discretionary space and discontinued merchandise. Maintain store standards, ensure policy and ethics compliance, and uphold a safe environment for associates, pets, and pet parents. Respond to pet health concerns and take action when a sick/injured pet is identified in store. Support opening and closing procedures to uphold brand promise and address customer concerns. Expense Management Identify opportunities to grow the business and achieve store P&L targets. Analyze inventory reporting to identify trends and root causes. Manage expenses such as labor and supplies; collaborate with Home Office for related work orders and purchases. Qualifications 3+ years of retail leadership or customer-focused experience. Full-time availability; flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Proficiency in computer applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in store presentation. Supervisory Responsibility Typically oversees up to three lead associates and up to forty non-leader associates. Responsible for employment decisions and associate development. Physical Demands and Work Environment Stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands for various tasks. May require lifting up to 50 pounds; occasionally more than 100 pounds with team lift.
