Salary Range: USD $26.00 - $32.00 (Hourly)

Overview We are currently seeking an

Environmental Project Coordinator

to work on Electric Utility Construction Projects. This is a field position, and candidates must have experience with environmental compliance in relation to land clearing and linear construction projects.

What You Will Do

Provide environmental compliance oversight and construction oversight on transmission Site Development and Linear Transmission Line construction projects for Electric Transmission infrastructure.

Conduct environmental inspections associated with Transmission Capital Projects and the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).

Ensure compliance with wetlands, protected species, wood and debris disposal, site control and soil disturbance, and field operations permits (road use, natural resource protection act, Corp of Engineers).

Document pre- and post-work field conditions to verify permit compliance and identify mitigation or restoration needs.

Perform field inspections for erosion, sediment, stormwater management and pollution prevention.

Attend pre-construction, constructability and status meetings and manage site development crews and BMP contractors.

Monitor and report status of construction units and communicate daily with utility client, contractors, landowners and the public.

Assist in developing recommendations for future Right-of-Way maintenance and prescribe vegetation management plans.

Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations and assume other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate or bachelor’s degree in environmental science, construction management, building science or related field.

1-5 years’ experience in Site Development work, utility construction permitting or environmental compliance.

Solid understanding of NPDES Construction General Permit (CGP), SWPPP implementation and inspections.

Strong public relations skills and ability to interface with the public.

Willingness to work alone and basic computer skills.

Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Must pass a pre-employment drug test and a criminal background check.

Desirable Skills

Background in Electric Transmission Construction, Pipeline or Utility field.

SWPPP book knowledge.

CESSWI (Certified Erosion and Sediment/Stormwater Inspector).

Construction crew oversight experience.

GIS Experience.

ANSI Z133 safety standards knowledge.

Military background is a plus.

Bi-Lingual speaking (English and Spanish) is a plus.

Physical Requirements The employee must have sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; to walk up to 10 miles per day, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make repetitive hand, arm and shoulder movement in the performance of daily duties.
